Calpe Colle ge was established in January 1973 as a one classroom school. Since then it has expanded into a junior and a senior school, which cover two separate sites in San Pedro, making it one of the longest established schools on the Costa del Sol.
Many of our students are bilingual or multilingual. Therefore we place great emphasis on English and Spanish in the timetable. Other languages such as French, Swedish, German and Russian can also be studied to examination level, either as options or extra curricular activities. The language instruction in all other  subjects is English. New students who are not very familiar with English are advised to attend the extra "English as a Foreign Language" (EFL) lessons which we offer them, for an appropriate length of time. Without such support teaching they would not benefit fully from what is essentially an English system of education. In an international community such as ours, this emphasis on the English language allows it to act as an integrating social force and gives pupils essential practice in what is, for some, a second language.
Calpe College has been fully recognized and authorized by all pertinent government departments both in the United Kingdom and Spain. The school is also authorized to teach Spanish nationals, whose studies and examinations, as well as those of any other nationalities, are fully consolidated with the Spanish system. The school is a recognized centre for IGCSE and GCSE examinations for the Cambridge, London, Oxford and RSA examination boards as well as A/AS levels and GNVQ`s.
