(Benalma dena Costa) Co-Educational British School - Founded 1997 (Formally The English Education College) The Benalmadena International College is situated in Nueva Torrequebrada, just off the N-340 coast road, between Benalmadena and Fuengirola. Nueva Torrequebrada is a new, exclusive urbanisation just metres from the sea and an established golf course.
The College has just completed its first phase in development and consists of school building, cafeteria and sports pitches. The second phase, which will start in 2003, will include an extra school building just for senior pupils, an indoor sports centre and a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool. The third phase will be a Hall of Residence for visiting schools and  teams.
The college provides the opportunity for all its students to participate in their favourite activities after school, or to improve in certain subjects. Extra-curricular clubs include Drama, Art, Football (for boys and girls), Tennis, Computer/Internet, Gymnastics, Chess and Spanish.
All clubs are taught by experienced and highly - qualified staff. The homework club enables students to complete their evening work avoiding confrontations with their parents. This is supervised by a member of staff.
A full sports programme is taught by qualified P.E. teachers from the
U.K. These activities consist of Athletics, Baseball (rounders), Cricket, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Tennis, and Volleyball. Rugby may be introduced in the near future.
The Benalmadena International College runs a Summer School Programme each year throughout July and during the first two weeks in August. The children are given lessons in English, Mathematics, Art, I.T, Spanish and Sports, keeping their literacy skills sharp and their organisational ability disciplined. Classes are prepared specially to accommodate students from 3 to 14 years of age. A maximum of 20 students per class.
